Founded in 2000 by Christina A. Captain, DOM,
AP, SLP, FSC, The Family Healing Center is an integrative, alternative
health care practice that incorporates traditional western ideology
with Eastern and other holistic strategies. This integration
of East meets West allows the center to provide specialized treatment
for a wide range of health problems.
Christina Captain, DOM, AP, SLP, FSC
Christina is a board certified acupuncture
physician and the founder of The Family Healing Center. She
earned her degree
in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine from the East West
College of Natural Medicine, Sarasota, Florida, where she
is now a senior faculty member and advisory board chairperson.
Christina received additional training in acupuncture injection
therapy and is certified to provide injection therapy for
a variety of ailments.
Prior to becoming a practitioner of Oriental Medicine, Christina
earned a Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology and
Communication Disorders from the University of Central
Florida, Orlando,
Florida. She remains an actively licensed speech pathologist
in the state of Florida. In addition to Oriental Medicine
Christina is trained in a variety of techniques from
allergy elimination
to facial rejuvenation. Trained in both the Mei Zen and the
vibrational beauty systems, Christina has the knowledge and
experience to individualize a plan for your specific challenge.
Other certifications include advance standing as a practitioner
of the Jaffe Mellor Technique.
Christina is an expert Feng Shui practitioner and teacher
who studied under Nancilee Wydra of the Feng Shui Institute
of
America, before originating her own style, Essential Balance
Feng Shui. Since feng shui is a branch of Oriental Medicine,
Christine often blends feng shui principles into her treatment
plans.
Christina’s
knowledge and enthusiasm for health and wellness has earned
her a reputation as a qualified lecturer, keynote
speaker, and experienced teacher throughout the United
States.
Lauren Rathvon, DOM, AP
Lauren Rathvon, DOM, AP is a nationally board certified Acupuncture Physician and Doctor of Oriental Medicine. She received her education at the East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota where she earned her degree in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in 2009. Certified in acupuncture point injection therapy, Lauren has also been trained in Constitutional Facial Rejuvenation and often combines both to provide the optimal comprehensive treatment in aesthetic medicine.
Before she became a healthcare practitioner, Lauren earned her Bachelor’s degree from New College of Florida in Sarasota. She has spent a decade in the natural food and health industry as a community liaison and advocate for clean eating, proper use of dietary supplements, and wellness education. She currently serves on the Oriental Medicine faculty at Mountain Meadow Massage School in Ruidoso, NM, in addition to being an adjunct professor at the East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota.
Lauren’s passion for holistic medicine lies in its ability to treat the body, mind, and spirit concurrently. Along with Chinese medicine modalities, Lauren brings an enthusiastic knowledge of nutrition, supplements, homeopathy, and energetic healing to her patients in order to awaken satisfaction and purpose in their lives.
